The Morar Hotel is only 3 miles from Mallaig, the southern Gateway to the Isle of Skye. The hotel boasts some breathtaking views of the famous Silver Sands of Morar and the Inner Hebridean Islands of Rum and Eigg. The Morar Hotel was originally built as a station hotel and it is only metres from the train station. When the hotel first opened in 1902 it would take seven and a half hours by coach from Fort William. Today Morar can be reached in just 15 minutes from Fort William by road or by the popular steam train that travels along the breathtaking West Highland line in the summer months. 16 of the 30 bedrooms in the Morar Hotel enjoy breathtaking views of the Morar river estuary. Other rooms in the historic part of the building have views of the rugged Craig Mhor Mountains and the steam train as it passes through Morar village. All of the rooms are en-suite and have hairdryers, welcome trays, and individually controlled heating provided for the comfort of the guests. In the Silver Sands restaurant, diners enjoy the changing moods of the Scottish scenery with views over the Morar River estuary. All meals are prepared to order using only the freshest ingredients using local and organic produce. With the bustling fishing port of Mallaig only 3 miles away the restaurant offers a fresh daily fish special.

Breakfast is served until: 8am - 9:30am The Morar Hotel is situated on one of Scotland's popular tourist routes - The Road to the Isles. The Road to the Isles routing stretches from Fort William to Glenfinnan and Lochailort, through Arisaig and Morar ending at Mallaig. It is a route steeped in history as it was along this route that Bonnie Prince Charlie found safety and security in this lovely area of the Scottish Highlands. The historic village of Morar is set in one of the most beautiful regions in the Western Highlands. In Scots Gaelic the village of Morar is called Mordhobhar meaning 'Big Water', this name was given to this village as it sits by Loch Morar the deepest expanse of fresh water in Western Europe. This loch is ideal fishing in and permits are available from the Morar Hotel. Other activities popular in this area are walking or perhaps a round of golf at the Traigh nine-hole golf course.
